Cheswick GreenPrimary School

Oracy

Speak with Confidence. Listen with Kindness. Think with Curiosity. Work Together to Achieve the Very Best for All.

At Cheswick Green Primary School, we believe every child deserves to have their voice heard. We recognise that talk is central to thinking, learning and understanding. Through purposeful speaking and listening opportunities, pupils develop confidence, curiosity, critical thinking and effective communication skills. Oracy is embedded throughout our curriculum and supports vocabulary development, reading, writing, reasoning and wider curriculum learning. We believe that every teacher is a teacher of oracy and every child should be given regular opportunities to speak, listen, discuss, reason and present across all areas of learning.

Our Cheswick Green oracy framework has been developed applying best practice recommended by the Education Endowment Foundation and Voice 21.
